Leadership Development
When thinking of leaders, you may think of those who have the ability to influence others and lead them to a common goal. Although that may be true, before a person can lead someone else, they must first learn to lead themselves. I believe the most important person you will ever lead is yourself. Without being able to effectively lead your own life, your potential for future success and fulfilment diminishes. This is why developing your leadership skills is imperative!
Personal Identity & Self-Worth
Mark Twain said, “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” Between those dates, life can make you feel like you have no true purpose to be here and no value to offer. It can make you believe that your flaws and failures are what define you or that you will forever be a victim to unfortunate circumstances. The reality is you were uniquely made which means you possess something great within in you that nobody has the power to measure. The first step to it all is believing this to be true. Regardless of what you may have heard or seen, the world needs what you have to give.
Self-Improvement & Perseverance
I know from personal experience that the easy part about life is identifying what your goals, dreams, and aspirations are. It isn’t until you start the process to accomplish what you set out to do, that you realize the road to success will be harder than you expected. This is why I’m a firm believer in saying, “It’s not about what you want. It’s about what you’re willing to do for it.” Accomplishing great feats requires you to grow, change, and think in ways you are not used to and in ways you did not expect. These moments can feel like obstacles hindering your progress. The truth is, these are the stepping stones that are helping you become the best version of yourself. If you commit to a goal, you are essentially committing to become a better you.
Emotional Intelligence
It is a good thing to be able to identify your emotions, but it is even better to be able to manage them. As the old adage goes, “All actions have consequences.” Without intentionally processing and managing how you feel, you can be tempted to act in ways that will not be advantageous. Although your feelings are valid, life does not stop or adjust to accommodate you. It is important that we do not make permanent decisions based on temporary emotions.
Perspective & Attitude
Your perspective positions your attitude, and your attitude controls your performance. In other words, how you view a situation will determine how you approach the situation. As you progress in life, you will be faced with mundane tasks you will not be motivated to complete and unwanted conditions you have to deal with. Being able to bring a positive perspective to undesired circumstances will help you produce the effort necessary to successfully move forward.
Success & Fulfillment
If you do not define what success is for yourself, how will you know when you have reached it? With heavy attention on social media, influencers, and pop culture, it is easy to fall in the trap of striving toward an idea of success that has no true significance to you. There are numerous people in the world who live a life outsiders would say is a success. Yet, many of them feel empty and unaccomplished. The difference between just looking like a success and actually feeling like a success is the fulfillment you get from what you do and how you live your life.
